BSF Put on High Alert Along Border

Amid the heightened vigil, BSF troopers shot dead a Pakistani intruder along the International Border in Punjab. The intruder was shot on Wednesday night in the Ferozepur sector, officials said. He was found crossing the International Border. The body has been handed over to the Punjab police.
The Agartala airport authorities have also asked the BSF to enhance surveillance around the facility. The Agartala airport is around 1.5 km from the Bangladesh border.
MBB airport director KC Meena said, "We also urged the BSF to increase surveillance around the airport because of its proximity to the international border."
The BSF has, meanwhile, cancelled the training programme meant for its personnel and called them back to their respective units. Those who were already on leave have been asked to report back with immediate effect.
It has also stopped evening ceremonial retreat ceremonies at all three border check posts. "As per directions, there will be no ceremonial show at all three joint check posts (JCP) till further orders.
As for the ceremony, the Indian flag is lowered every evening by BSF troops in synchronisation with Pakistan Rangers at the JCPs located at Attari (Amritsar) opposite Pakistan's Wagah, Hussainiwala in Ferozepur district across Ganda Singh Wala and at Sadki in Fazilka district.
