A Breath Away from Death: Cobra Shares Man's Mosquito Net in a Night of Unbelievable Survival

 Bhubaneswar: In a chilling tale that blurs the line between nightmare and miracle, a man in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district unknowingly shared his bed with an eight-foot-long cobra—coiled silently within his mosquito net.

The eerie encounter unfolded in Pratappur village near Baripada, where the man had gone to sleep as usual, never imagining that one of India’s most venomous snakes would slip under his net and rest beside him through the night.

It wasn’t until dawn that the horrifying reality came to light. Family members, startled to see the deadly serpent lying inches from the man’s head, raised an alarm. Yet, in a twist that defies belief, the cobra hadn’t struck. Not a single bite. Just an ominous silence between man and beast.

Rescue came swiftly in the form of Krishna Chandra Gochhayat from the Snake Helpline, who carefully removed the snake and released it back into the wild in accordance with forest protocols.

The incident has left the local community in stunned disbelief—many calling it a divine escape or an act of fate.

“I was asleep and suddenly found the snake lying beside me. We informed the rescue team. The reptile was later rescued and released into the forest,” said the homeowner, still shaken by the ordeal.
