Hyderabad: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Saturday directed officials to construct roads without any laxity and without compromising on quality.

They would also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and submit a representation to convert 15 state highways as national highways in the state.

At a review meeting with department officials here on Saturday, he reminded them that they had promised to provide roads without potholes, which the officials had to work on. Stating that during the previous government’s rule, hundreds of people had died in accidents, he directed officials to take measures to prevent road accidents.

A delegation from Telangana will meet Modi and Union minister for road transport Nitin Gadkari seeking conversion of 15 state highways into national highways. He added that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has already represented this issue to Modi. "There is no need to compromise on the quality of work. Strict action will be taken against those rendering shoddy work. The previous government did not pay the bills of small contractors whose responsibility was road maintenance," the minister said.

On the proposed ORR in Nalgonda, he came up with many suggestions to avoid problems for the people in the master plan. He suggested that there was a need for a package to protect land dwellers from any difficulties.
