KT Rama Rao pushes for clay Ganeshas

Over 1 lakh Ganeshas have been commissioned to be made with clay and natural colours to reduce pollution of lakes.

Hyderabad: Minister K.T. Rama Rao, with a tweet, launched the latest campaign for use of clay idols for this year’s Ganesh Chaturthi. Over 1 lakh Ganeshas have been commissioned to be made with clay and natural colours to reduce pollution of lakes.

The Pollution Control Board, GHMC and HMDA which initiated the move plan to supply these at nominal rates to the public. “Last year we gave over 80,000 eco friendly Ganeshas and this year they would be given to government offices as well,” said N. Raveendhar, senior social scientist with PCB. They would be available in small, medium and large sizes.
