Float fest celebrated in unique way at Kumbakonam

On Tuesday after performance of sudarsana homam and Thirumanjanam, perumal was taken to the float.

Kumbakonam: While it is customary to celebrate float festival for Chakkarapani temple at Kumbakonam in the Tamil month of Vaikasi, this year, unique feature of the festival on Tuesday night was that the float represented Adhiseshan upon which Perumal was taken in rounds in the tank. The tank (pushkarini) was imagined as "Thiruparkadal.

Chakkarapani temple is one of the famous vaishnavite temples in Kumbakonam.Thirumazhisai Alwar had sung in praise of Chakkarapani Perumal. The principal deity was said to have been installed by Lord Brahma. Sun god, brahma, markandeyan, agni Bhagawan, worshipped Chakkarapani perumal according to the legend.

On Tuesday after performance of sudarsana homam and Thirumanjanam, perumal was taken to the float. Hundreds of people witnessed the float which was taken on three rounds in the tank.
