Hyderabad: Hefty fine on illegal buildings

Hyderabad: The state government has come out with heavy penalties on unauthorised constructions in GHMC limits, ranging from 25 per cent to 100 per cent of the property tax.

Municipal minister K.T. Rama Rao tabled a paper in the House on Thursday prescribing the penalties based on the nature of violation.

For up to 10 per cent violation of permissible setbacks only in respect of floors permitted in a sanctioned plan, 25 per cent of property tax will be levied as penalty.

For more than 10 per cent violation, the paper said the penalty will be 50 per cent of property tax.

For unauthorised floors over the permitted floors in a sanctioned plan and for total unauthorised construction, 100 per cent of property tax will be levied as penalty.

Officials have been directed to submit monthly reports on unauthorised buildings in their jurisdiction which should contain the details of all buildings constructed/ occupied with permission  during the preceding month.

A separate demand register will be maintained for the penalty levied on unauthorised constructions.

Pink colour demand notices should be issued to owners to levy 100 per cent penalty on buildings constructed illegally on lands without title on private land or patta/ possession certificates on government land, land under urban land ceiling, endowment land, Wakf land etc.

The service of this demand notice does not confer ownership of the land to the holder of the buildings constructed illegally.

City outskirts to get more water
Peripheral areas in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will get augment drinking water by February 2018.

Minister K.T. Rama Rao said the government was laying water pipelines to augment drinking water supply from the Krishna and Godavari rivers.

“For the improvement of water supply services, the water supply distribution network project for the peripheral circles of GHMC is taken up under the HUDCO project,” he said.

He added, “The required storage reservoirs with feeder ma-ins and distribution networks covers ar-eas in Alwal, Kapra, Uppal, Ramachandrapuram, Qutballapur, LB Nagar, Gaddiannaram, Rajendranagar, Kukatpally, Serilinga-mpally and Patancheru circles. The project period is 24 months.”
