Nizamabad: Heavy rain and hailstorms created a mayhem by damaging electricity lines and ready-to-harvest crops mainly paddy in the Nizamabad district on Tuesday night. The officials were assessing the damages by the unseasonal rain, which caused the snapping of electrical wires and the uprooting of trees in several areas in the district.

Trees alongside the Nizamabad to Hyderabad road and several roads in Bodhan were uprooted and fell on the roads. The officials were pressed into action to remove the fallen trees off the roads which caused traffic jams in Jankampet, Yedapally and Bodhan areas.

The hailstorm damaged the ready-to-harvest paddy crop on hundreds of acres in Dichpally, Dharpally, Sirikonda, Jakranpally, Kamareddy and other mandals in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts.

The power supply was disrupted in several areas. The power supply was restored after long hours in various colonies in Nizamabad due to little availability of staff as many officials were deployed for Assembly elections duty.
