The condition of Bengaluru is turning worse by the day, as the Coronavirus pandemic situation seems to be going out of control in the capital city of Karnataka.

The fresh cases tally in Bengaluru which was below 2,000 from the past three consecutive days, suddenly jumped to 2,270 on Wednesday. With this, total Corona positive cases in Bengaluru have crossed the 50,000 mark and stand at 51,091.

Overall, Karnataka recorded 5,503 cases and the trend of more than 5,000 cases has been on for nearly a week now. Karnataka's total cases which crossed one lakh mark, now stand at 1,12,504 and the worrying factor for officials is the burden of active cases. The state has nearly 60 per cent of its cases in the active mode and has 67,448 active cases. More than half of the active caseload is from Bengaluru. It should be noted that of the 198 BBMP wards in the city, nearly 90 per cent of the wards have recorded more than 100 positive cases.

The death toll too is not under control as Karnataka witnessed 92 deaths since Tuesday evening. Thirty deaths were reported from Bengaluru alone. In all these developments, the state government is contemplating on opening the doors of theatres and multiplexes with limited capacity.

The state has till date carried out 12.75 lakh Covid tests and on Wednesday, it tested 32,990 samples. There were 2,397 discharges since Tuesday evening.
