Bengaluru: Red sanders smuggler held, 472kg wood seized

The police recovered 14 sandalwood logs, a weighing scale and an SUV from Anees.

Bengaluru: The Vidyaranyapura police arrested a red sanders smuggler and recovered 472 kg of the wood logs from the accused.

The accused, Shaikh Anees (41), is a resident of Hosakote.

The police recovered 14 sandalwood logs, a weighing scale and an SUV from Anees.

The police received a tip off that Anees, carrying red sanders logs in his SUV, was waiting at Singapore Sriniketal Layout in Vidyaranyapura police limits on Sunday morning.

The police caught Anees red-handed and during the interrogation, he revealed that he smuggled wood logs from Tamil Nadu after buying them from Setu, Babu and Kumar at Rs 1,850 per kg.

He had sold it to one Abdul Ali of Kasargod in Kerala at Rs 2,500 per kg.

The police are investigating
