Telangana Wakf board may come under CBI lens

Hyderabad: A team of Central Wakf Council which visited the Telangana has recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation enquiry into the functioning of the TS Wakf Board.

The team has pointed out glaring irregularities and lackadaisical attitude of the Telangana State Wakf Board during its recent visit to the State. The four-member committee comprising members of the Central Wakf Committee pointed out that the TS Wakf Board has failed to protect the Wakf properties running into acres of land and prime commercial buildings in important places of the city and towns in the Telangana.

The team conducted an inspection of the TS Wakf Board functioning. “Of the total land, 89 per cent is under encroachment or legal dispute. The State Wakf Board failed to recover or safeguard the encroached land,” it stated.
