Nellore: The Second Launch Pad in Satish Dhawan Space Centre,  Sriharikota in AP was developed to accommodate PSLV’s, GSLV-Mk-II and Mark-III’s.
The GSLV-F08/GSAT-6A Mission was successfully launched from the second launch pad on Thursday.

The vehicle is assembled and checked on a mobile launch pedestal in the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) and later moved to the launch pad on rails.
According to engineers, this method reduces the pad occupancy and enables the vehicle to move back to VAB for protection, in the event of any warning or threat.
