6 flights diverted to Chennai due to fog in Bengaluru

Chennai: As many as six Bengaluru-bound flights from different origins were diverted to Chennai due to severe fog in the Karnataka capital, causing delay in the landing of more than a dozen other flights in Chennai.

Due to the severe fog in Bengaluru this morning, the flights were diverted to Chennai, airport officials said.

According to them, due to diverstions, it caused delayed landing of 18 other flights in Chennai.

Meanwhile, authorities said entry of visitors to the airport has been banned with immediate effect till further notice "due to security reasons."

Notices have been pasted in the airport precincts about the ban on visitors' entry.
