Kakinada: Kakinada district collector Kritika Shukla said a 132 / 33 KV sub-station is being set up at Hamsavaram village in Thondangi Mandal at a cost of Rs 24.64 crore.

Once it becomes operational, it will provide quality power to 3 lakh electricity consumers belonging to domestic, agriculture, aqua, and industrial sectors in Tuni, Thondangi, and Sankhavaram mandals.

The collector said at present, power is being supplied to Thondangi mandal from Pithapuram, Prathipadu, and Payakaraopeta mandals, which is causing power interruptions and low-voltage problems.

The substation is expected to become operational by the end of March 2024.

Kritika Shukla said there are also proposals for establishing new substations at Dummulapeta in Kakinada, Sankhavaram, and other areas.
