Kzohikode: Two women inmates of government mental health centre at Kuthiravattom have found their way to the safety of home. Priyanka (22) from Maharastra and Komal (38) from Rajasthan left Kozhikode on Sunday as their relatives reached here after years of searching.

A mentally challenged Ms Priyanka reached the centre in July last year through a court order after police found her in the city. She didn't utter a word, and it was difficult to trace her whereabouts.

Social worker Subhash Chandra Bose made several attempts depending on the words she uttered in various intervals and found that she is from Manwath district of Maharastra. Manwath police also helped to locate her father, Manik Uthamrao Chivanthi.

Meanwhile, Mr Chivanthi has been searching for his daughter in many states. The disappearance of the girl had become a major issue in his village. He came to Kozhikode and returned with his daughter, thanking everyone.

Ms Komal was pregnant when she was found in the city with her four-year-old daughter two weeks back. She was sent to the mental health centre and daughter to St. Vincent Care Home through district child welfare committee. The separation of the two aggravated her mental condition and realising this, they were united.

"After Komal's condition became better, I spoke to her and came to know that she is from Rajasthan. Her relatives were informed, and they reached here on Sunday," said Mr Bose.

Ms Komal and her relatives too returned on Sunday, bidding farewell to the love and affection of the Zamorin's city.
