Wayanad: Laity hold solidarity meet for nun

The former principal of St Stephen\'s College New Delhi Dr Valsan Thampu inaugurated the meeting.

Wayanad: The Catholic Laymen's Association, a reformist body, organised a protest meeting in front of the provincial house of Franciscan Clarist Congregation,  in protest against the attempt to expel Sr Lucy from the congregation.

The nun has received the expulsion notice from the congregating against which the nun had approached the Vatican office at New Delhi and also to the Apostolic nunciature at the Vatican.

The former principal of St Stephen's College New Delhi Dr Valsan Thampu inaugurated the meeting.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Thampu said that the church is yet to realise the changes that took place in the world.

RMP leader K.K. Rema also expressed solidarity with the nun and demanded the church to back out from suppressing the nuns.Prof T.C. Devasya, Prof Kusumam Joseph and N.J. John, among others, spoke.

Police had registered a case against a priest and two nuns in connection with circulating a video on social media, portraying Sr Lucy in a bad light.

Another case is also pending against nuns for locking Sr Lucy in the convent without allowing her to attend in the Holy Mass.
