Kochi: A landslide occurred at Munnar Gap Road on Sunday morning, forcing the authorities to stop traffic through the narrow road connecting the town with Chinnakanal.

No one was injured in the incident which happened around 8.30 am though huge rocks fell on a few roadside vendor stalls and vehicles parked.

"The traffic will be restored only after the debris is removed. We expect the process to take over a week's time," police said.

The narrow road is used by tourists to travel to places in Tamil Nadu and destinations like Thekkady.

According to local residents, the unscientific road construction in the region has led to the landslide.
