Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman take up KT Rama Rao's challenge

Hyderabad: Former cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and V.V.S. Laxman accepted Urban development minister K.T. Rama Rao's challenge and planted three saplings as part of state's Haritha Haram initiative. 

Within 24 hours of the minister throwing the challenge at them, Mr Tendulkar, Mr Laxman and US Consulate General Katherine Hadda planted the saplings and tweeted their pictures.   

Minister Rama Rao recently planted saplings of Rosewood, Oak and Golden Champa in Hyderabad after being nominated by Tollywood director S.S. Raja-mouli. 

Mr Sachin tweeted; “Thank you, KTR, for nominating me for the green challenge #HarithaHaram. I accept the challenge and hope all of you do too. The key to a greener planet is in our hands (sic).”

Mr Laxman tweeted, “The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies. Great initiative KTR, I have planted pomegranate, water apple and Laxman Phal saplings. I nominate Viren-der Sehwag, Mithali Raj and P.V. Sindhu  to plant 3 trees, nurture them and make #HarithaHaram a sustainable movement(sic).”
