Panel meets on midday meals in colleges

The institutions to be covered by this scheme include degree, junior, BEd, DEd and polytechnic colleges.

Hyderabad: A committee under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari met on Saturday to discuss providing midday meals to around five lakh students of the government colleges in the state. Ministers Etela Rajender, T. Harish Rao and A. Indrakaran Reddy also attended the meeting. 

The institutions to be covered by this scheme include degree, junior, BEd, DEd and polytechnic colleges. 

The committee has requested the representatives of Akshaya Foundation to submit three proposals for the scheme for arranging food supplies to the colleges, Akshayapatra (providing food to the colleges with their own supplies) and for providing meals with puligora, black rice, upma, ragi and millets. 

The minister has asked the representatives of Akshayapatra Foundat-ion to make necessary arrangements in all 31 districts for the scheme.
