Telangana and AP Bank staff stir today
For AP and Telangana a massive protest will be organised at SBH headquarters at Gunfoundry near Abids.
Hyderabad: Bank officers and employees nationwide will organise protest programmes on Friday in connection with a one-day strike call by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU).
The Forum’s Telangana and AP state general secretary B. Seetha Rambabu, who is also general secretary for SBH Staff Association, said that under the UFBU, nine banking unions will participate in the strike.
“For AP and Telangana a massive protest will be organised at SBH headquarters at Gunfoundry near Abids. We have given strike call opposing the government’s decision on merging of banks and privatisation. We are demanding the government to withdraw its decision on merging of SBH with SBI and the privatisation steps of IDBI," he said.
He further informed that all the banks will function full day on Saturday. “People who have to file income tax returns, can approach banks on Saturday as Sunday is the last date,’’ said Mr B. Seetha Rambabu.
