Vijayawada: The AP High Court has stayed the release of Lakshmi’s NTR, the Telugu movie based on the life of TD founder N.T. Rama Rao.

Telugu Desam activists had filed a petition in the High Court to stop the release of the film as it would have a negative impact on voters regarding AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and the TD during the forthcoming elections. They also lodged complaints with the Election Commission of India and AP chief electoral officer G.K. Dwivedi.

The petitioners said the movie has been produced by Rakesh Reddy, a YSRC leader, with the intent to damage the TD in the forthcoming elections. They said that the movie was scheduled for release on March 22 and would affect the AP Assembly elections to be held on April 11.

Justice Sesha Sai and Justice Durga Prasad hearing the case ordered a stay on the release of Lakshmi’s NTR till April 3.
