Hyderabad: The Telangana State Council of Higher Education will set up a Mentor Support System (MSS) in all institutions of higher education by assigning every faculty the task of monitoring and assessing the performance of a few students each. The state has taken up the exercise under its strategic plan for higher education that aims to provide quality education to rural and urban areas.

The TSCHE’s strategic plan involves an inclusive approach vis a vis students, faculty, institutions and industry to fulfil the aspirations of today’s youth, senior officials from the council said. The ‘buddy system’ current in many international universities and top institutions in the country helps promote friendship and support between peers through regular interaction of the college community.

Professor V. Venkata Ramana, vice chairman of TSCHE, said, “We decided to introduce the ‘mentor support system’ in all higher education institutes under the strategic plan for higher education.”
