Telangana government identifies 650 acres in Hyderabad for 2BHK houses

Hyderabad: The state government has identified 650 acres in Hyderabad for 2BHK houses, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said in the Assembly on Tuesday. He said he would meet with public representatives from the city in January on the project.

MIM Floor leader Akabaruddin Owaisi the government had to give 12 per cent reservations to Muslims in the housing scheme, to which Mr Rao replied that it would be fixed at the January meeting.

Mr Owaisi said according to his information the share of minorities in the housing scheme was 1.57 per cent and Muslims, 1.36 per cent.  He said the MIM had sent about one lakh applications for sanction of houses.

Graft found in house project

Chief Minister K. Chandra-sekhar Rao said the government would complete the CID inquiry into corruption in the Indiramma housing scheme, floated by the previous Congress government, soon and the culprits would be punished.

He said a random inquiry in 35 villages in 18 Assembly constituencies had revealed the involvement of a zilla parishad member, three mandal parishad members, 14 sarpanches and three single window chairmen. He said the names of some political leaders had come up.

Opposition leader K. Jana Reddy said that the government was blaming Congress ministers and legislators.
