Mangalagiri set to become Hi-Tech city of Andhra Pradesh

With IT firms and AIIMS coming up, there is scope for development.

GUNTUR: The ancient town of Mangalagiri is set to turn into a medical and IT hub as Hi-Tech city of AP in the future. Mangalagiri which is famous for weavers’ cotton clothes and ancient hilltop  temple of Panakala Lakshminarasimha Swamy is emerging as the medical and IT hub with may IT and medical firms to be set up there. The first IT coding company Phycare Solutions was inaugurated on July 21 in Mangalagiri and the US-based internationally reputed PI Data Centre would start functioning from Mangalagiri on July 28.

Besides this,  HCL would start functioning from December. The works of AP state police headquarters are nearing completion and the works of All India Institute of Medical Sciences are also progressing at a brisk pace turning Mangalagiri into the IT and medical hub of Amaravati Capital Region. The IT companies are planning to provide employment to locals which is a good news to the unemployed youth. Mangalagiri is the junction for the new capital Amaravati, Vijayawada and Guntur having road and rail connectivity and an airport was proposed by the government in the new capital plan.

Besides this, new roads were proposed in the  Amaravati capital plan so that the connectivity, resources and adjacent new capital Amaravati would attractg the IT industry. Several youth in Guntur said many of their friends from the town and Vijayawada work in the IT sector in Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore due to lack of employment here. They expressed hope that soon as IT firms start functioning in Mangalagiri, many more  youth would get employment here itself and even the AP government would get revenue. Founder and CEO of PI Data Centre, Kalyan Muppaneni, said Mangalagiri is located near Vijayawada, Guntur and the new capital Amaravati. It is becuase the town is easily accessible from all the nearby places, we have chosen Mangalagiri for our firm.

He said there is a lot of scope for the data business in the new capital region due to many more companies likely to come up in the future and predicted bright future for the new capital development. He said their facility would create job opportunities to over 300 skilled employees and indirect employment to over 2,000 people living in the surrounding areas.
