All 17 Telangana MPs are educated

Many of them are highly-educated.

Hyderabad: Among the 17 Lok Sabha members from Telangana state, there is a lawyer, a veterinarian, an artist, a former pilot and two post-graduates.

According to affidavits submitted to the Election Commission, all 17 are educated, with the minimum educational qualification being an Intermediate pass.

BJP’s Nizamabad MP D. Arvind is the youngest MP and has completed his post-graduate study as has the party’s Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay.

In the recent Lok Sabha polls, the Teelangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) got nine seats, the BJP four, the Congress three and the AIMIM retained its Hyderabad seat.

Among the nine elected from the TRS, Peddapalle MP Venkatesh Netha Borlakunta, with two post-graduate degrees seems to be the most highly-qualified MP in his party.

He has a Master in Commerce, Master of Law, and holds a PhD in Law from Osmania University.

Another lawyer and four-time parliamentarian Asaduddin Owaisi of the AIMIM has a degree in legal studies (Law) from Lincoln’s Inn in London.

TRS MP from Chevella, Dr Gaddam G. Ranjith Reddy, who was elected after a see-saw battle, is a post-graduate in Veterinary Science from Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University.

Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, the TRS MP from Medak, and the Nagarkurnool MP Pothuganti Ramulu, both have Bachelor’s degrees in Arts.

Dayakar Rao Yarrabelly has a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts, while B.B. Patel, elected from  Zaheerabad, and the lone woman MP, M. Kavitha from Mahbubabad, are both science graduates.  

Among the BJP parliamentarians, first timer and youngest of all D. Arvind who defeated former MP K. Kavitha in Nizamabad, is a post-graduate in political science.

He had also represented Hyderabad in cricket in the 1990s.

His party colleague Bandi Sanjay Kumar, elected from Karimanagar is also a post-graduate, in public administration.

Both have degrees from universities outside Telangana state.

While the party’s face from Secunderabad G. Kishen Reddy is a tool designing expert, the three-time MLA from Amberpet did his diploma from Central Institute of Tool Design, Balanagar.   

Nalgonda Congress MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy is, unusually, a former fighter pilot in the IAF and flew the MiG 21 and MiG 23 in front line fighter squadrons.

He also served as Controller of Security, Protocol, Administration, foreign trips of President at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The five-time MLA is a graduate in science from the National Defence Academy and has completed a weapon deployment course at the College of Air Warfare.  

Congress working president A. Revanth Reddy, whose win surprised many, is a graduate in Arts.

The rest have studied up to higher secondary, that is, BJP MP Bapu Rao Soyam  from Adilabad, TRS MPs Nama Nageshwaro from Khammam, and Manne Srinivas Reddy from Mahabubnagar, and Congress MP from Bhongir, Komat Reddy Venkat Reddy.
