Maharashtra Muslims to get 5% reservation in education

The topic of reservation for Muslims has been often raised in the Maharashtra assembly in the past few years

Maharashtra's Maha Vikas Aghadi government has proposed to extend five per cent reservation to Muslims in educational institutes said,  Minority Affairs Minister Nawab Malik  today.

The state government will ensure that a legislation to this effect is passed soon, the minister informed the State Legislative Council.

He also assured the House of taking “appropriate action” in this regard before beginning of admissions in schools.  Mr.Malik from Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) also said that they are planning  to make reservations in jobs

Though the  government led by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray  has not yet announced how they plan to go about it.
