The Delhi police has arrested over 514 people for their involvement in the Delhi violence.  Shops and schools were closed and many streets were deserted with police making announcements that no one should come out of their homes.

There has been heavy deployment of police in the rioted areas of the city to avoid any possibility of violence.

More forces have been deployed at mosques in the area for the Friday prayers, the government said. No incidents of violence has been reported since Wednesday morning, it said in a statement late on Thursday.
