Karur: The district police arrested 46 supporters of the rebel AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran, including former state minister V. Senthil Balaji for creating a public nuisance and having heated arguments with the police at Karur on Saturday.

Police said the trouble started over wall writings by the supporters of Senthil Balaji, objected to and prevented by the police saying that without police permission, they would not allow such wall writings.

On information, Senthil Balaji and his supporters came to the spot and had heated arguments with the police, which caused tense moments, as supporters of his rival, transport minister M. R. Vijayabaskar also started assembling there. In a bid to defuse the tension, police arrested Senthil Balaji and his supporters and restored normalcy, sources added.
