HYDERABAD: With just one day to go for the GES, founder of the Cherie Blair Foundation and wife of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Ms Cherie Blair, one of the prominent speakers at the summit, talks of how delighted she is to be a part of the summit and speaking on a subject so dear to her heart.

Ms Blair will be speaking on the topic, “Women in workforce” and will be sharing the stage with Ivanka Trump, US President’s daughter and advisor, Chanda Kochhar, CEO of ICICI Bank Ltd and Mr K.T. Rama Rao, Telangana’s minister of IT and municpal administration.

Speaking to DC, Ms Blair said, “I am delighted that women’s entrepreneurship is being given the platform and prominence it deserves. To be in the presence of such entrepreneurial energy and ambition among the attendees and speakers,    is inspiring and invigorating. It’s an honour and a pleasure to be here in Hyderabad city for the GES 2017.”

The theme of the summit is ‘Women First, Prosperity for All’. Speaking about the importance of investing in women entrepreneurs, Ms Blair said, “India has one of the lowest rates of female labour force participation in the world, so the potential impact of millions mo-re women being able to contribute to India’s economy could be transformative. Where job opportunities are scarce, entrepreneurship offers women the opportunity to take control of their own futures, becoming job creators rather than job seekers.” Ms Blair said.

With about 52 per cent of women entrepreneurs as participants at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit -2017, Ms Blair said, “Entrepreneurship is the heartbeat of our economies, but women entrepreneurs around the world face a number of barriers to their success.”

When asked what was the one key message to the next generation of women entrepreneurs that she would like to pass on, Ms Blair said, “Practical and emotional support for women entrepreneurs along the way is crucial - but inner strength and determination will make the difference between an aspiration remaining a dream or becoming a reality.”

“All too often, women are told that they cant. So, my message to the next generation of women entrepreneurs is simply this: yes, you can." - Cherie Blair
