Mangaluru: Intensity of rain decreases

Mangaluru: With cyclone Kyarr moving away from India, the intensity of rain decreased in the coastal districts on Saturday.

Heavy rain and wind continued in parts of the region. As the Arabian Sea continued to be turbulant, fishing boats have been anchored in the harbours in the coastal districts.

Boats from Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu too have been anchored in Karwar, Udupi and Mangaluru harbours.

The Indian Coast Guard has rescued nine people from a fishing boat, Rajkiran, that had left the Malpe port off Karwar a few days ago.

In Uttara Kannada, people from low-lying areas and flood-prone areas have been shifted to relief centres.
