Security guard from Assam jumps to death, leaves no suicide note

Chennai: A security guard of a software firm jumped to death from the sixth floor of the company building at Thoraipakkam in the wee hours of Wednesday.

According to the police, Debajith Baru (30), hailing from Assam, worked as a security guard at a software firm in Thoraipakkam on Rajiv Gandhi IT expressway.

Debajith lived with his friends in a house near the company where he had joined eight months ago.

On Wednesday, while he was on duty, he climbed the sixth floor of the building and jumped down.

Semmenchery police have registered a case and preliminary investigations state that it was a suicide.

An investigation officer told, there are CCTV visuals of him climbing up the stairs to jump off. It is said that on Tuesday evening he told one of his friends that he would not see him alive today. 

Debajith has not left any suicide note. Hailing from Assam, his family has been informed and they reached the city on Wednesday evening.

The police sent his body to Royapettah government hospital for post-mortem. The police are inquiring as to why he took the extreme step.
