Ooty: Children dress up as Mother Teresa to mark saint's birthday

Dr Amalraj said that the event was held to motivate students.

Ooty: A programme to commemorate the birth anniversary of and the sainthood of Mother Teresa, was organised by the Ooty Roman Catholic Diocese and the Rex Senior Secondary School here.

A rally was held to mark the occasion. Dr A.Amalraj, Bishop of the Ooty Diocese led the rally of students who dressed like Mother Teresa and wore her masks. They also carried placards and banners highlighting her quotable quotes.

The rally, which began at the Bishop’s house, ended at Rex School where a cultural programme was held to mark the occasion.  Students presented a tableau titled, “ABC of Mother Teresa,” portraying her life journey, choreography and songs.

Dr Amalraj said that the event was held to motivate students and others to learn lessons from the life of Mother Teresa and the need to inculcate the trait of being merciful.
