Hyderabad: Ishika Rathi of Chirec International School topped the Class 12 CBSE results in the city scoring 98 per cent followed by Disha Rasiwasia with 97.6 per cent in the commerce stream.

The third position was tied between Aharna Sarkar from Delhi Public School, Nacharam, of the science stream and Aprurva Nangia from P. Obul Reddy School from the commece stream with 97.4 per cent.

Most state toppers were from the humanities and commerce streams.

Teachers state that the growing popularity of these streams had ensured that even bright students join them instead of science and maths.

Obul Reddy School principal Anjali Razdan said more than 40 per cent of the students scored above 90 per cent, and there is a clear jump for students from commerce and humanities.

“Students have realised the career opportunities in other streams as well. Parental pressure has also eased,” she said.

Students of Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Kondapur, secured 100 per cent passes.

More than 51 per cent of the students secured distinction and above marks.

Although students were in for a scare with the paper leak during the exam, teachers say that the results were on expected lines.

“Although there was no retest for students here, there was a brief period when students were worried. The controversy unfolded during the board exams and we were worried that the students would be affected. Their performance has been as expected, which shows that the students braved it out,” said principal Narasimha Reddy of the Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthapur that also achieved 100 pass percentage.
