Reopening of Tamil Nadu government schools postponed by a week

As per the schedule, the schools in the state were to be reopened on June 1.

Chennai: Due to hot conditions prevailing in the state this summer, the Tamil Nadu government has extended the summer vacation by a week and postponed the reopening of schools to June 7. As per the schedule, the schools in the state were to be reopened on June 1.

School education minister K.A. Sengottaiyan said, “Due to heat, schools will be reopened onJune 7. Students will get the books on the same day.”

However, the CBSE schools reopening date is not yet decided. When enquired a principal from the city school said, “We normally follow the CBSE guidelines which will be issued a week prior to the reopening of schools. The board is yet to give its circular on reopening.”
