Karnataka PU lecturers call off stir temporarily

Bengaluru: PU lecturers, who had threatened to boycott the II PU valuation work, have decided to temporarily take back their protest, bringing cheer to worried students and parents.

With their main demand of pay scales on a par with degree college lecturers, PU lecturers had threatened to boycott valuation work.

The protest was temporarily withdrawn after representatives from the Karnataka PU Lecturers' Association met Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait on Sunday. The minister assured them in a written letter that a meeting will be called on April 13 to discuss the issue threadbare.

The lecturers, however, said that the protest will resume if their demands are not met in the April 13 meeting, said association president Thimmaiah Purle.
II PUC examination will end on March 27 and valuation will being on April 4.

After the meeting on Sunday, Mr Sait said, “PU lecturers are agitating with their demands since December. Pay scale demands of the lecturers will be addressed as per the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission of the state government. The issue will also be discussed in Cabinet. We are sure of solving the issue during the April 13 meeting.”
