Tight security for President Pranab Mukherjee visit

Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate five major projects including Cyber Park.

KOZHIKODE: All essential security arrangements are in place including traffic diversions and vehicle checks to make the city secure for President Pranab Kumar Mukherjee’s visit on Saturday.

The President will be officially inaugurating five major projects of Kozhikode district including the Government Cyber Park and Uralungal Cyber Park, declaration of Kerala as a digital state and launch of digital employment Programme, declaration of Kanivu (the compassion Kerala) scheme and dedication of Gender Park.

The official inaugural programme of the five events will be held at ULCC Limited special economic zone at UL Cyber Park location at 12.45 pm. Under the leadership of ADGP Nitin Agarwal and IG Dinendra Kashyap, City Police Commissioner Uma Behra, SP Abdul Kareem, AV George and P Vijaykumar inspected the entire security arrangements at Vikram Maithan, UL Cyber Park and WelcomHotel Ravis Kadavu, where lunch has been arranged for the President.

Traffic regulations for the President’s visit will begin from 10 am till he leaves the city at 3pm. “As part of the visit, nearly 1300 police officials have been deployed at various parts of the city”, said City Police Commissioner Uma Behra.

Mr Mukherjee will take a helicopter from Kodungalur and will reach Vikram Miathan at 12.30 pm, from where, in a car escorted by the police team, he will move to the main venue.
