Visakhapatnam: Freedom fighter has not been receiving pension

Visakhapatnam: An 86-year old freedom fighter M. Venkateswarlu has come from Yalamanchili to witness the Republic Day celebrations. He informed that government has granted the freedom fighter pension to him long back but he has not been receiving it.

“I was a freedom fighter at an age of 14 years. I have retired as a government servant and getting pension for that. However, I am not receiving freedom fighter pension from decades. It was not getting credited in my account though I submit my life certificate every year,” he said in a sad tone.

On the occasion, he has urged the government officials, including the district collector, to release freedom fighter pension regularly in his account.
