BENGALURU: Attempts by the JD(S) to derive political capital from the ongoing agitation by farmers before the BJP office in Bengaluru, went awry on Monday after JD(S) MLC T.A. Saravana, who tried to woo the protesters by providing them food, was sent back. Meanwhile, the protest by the farmers, who want BJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa to ensure an immediate resolution of the Mahadayi water row with BJP ruled Goa, entered the third day.

Over 500 farmers from Hubballi-Dharwad, Nargund, Navalgund, Badami, Ron and Gadag had landed in Bengaluru on Saturday to stage the protest. On Monday morning, Mr Saravana arrived at the BJP office and offered them food but they contended that they did not want anything. They expressed displeasure over JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda protesting when it comes to Cauvery water but not raising his voice on Mahadayi.

Speaking to reporters, Mr Saravana said JD(S) State president H.D. Kumaraswamy is unwell for the last three days and could not meet the farmers.
