Bengaluru: Parappana Agrahara Central Prison which was in news recently for special treatment to expelled AIADMK leader VK Sasikala, is in news for all the wrong reasons again.

An old photo of Shivakumar, the life convict in the BPO employee Prathibha rape and murder case, has surfaced in which he is seen with a home guard of the prison, with whom he allegedly had an affair inside the jail.

There were reports that Shivakumar and the home guard allegedly took the photo when they were on an outing after Shivakumar’s conviction. Parappana Agrahara Central Prison chief superintendent Somashekhar said that after the reports appeared, he conducted an internal inquiry and it was proved that Shivakumar had not gone outside the jail except once and that the woman with him in the photo is not the home guard.

“It’s been three months since I took charge as the chief superintendent of the prison. During these three months, Shiva-kumar has hardly left his barracks, let alone the jail. During the investigation, it was learnt that the photo is morphed by some mischief-mongers and the home guard in question has denied any relationship with Shivakumar,” Somashekhar told Deccan Chronicle.

He said that the last time Shivakumar went outside the prison was in December 2016 for a medical checkup. However, it is learnt that the photo is doing the rounds after Shivakumar returned to the prison following his checkup.
On September 13, 2005, 24-year-old Prathibha Srikanth Murthy, an employee working for HP, was raped and killed by Shivakumar, a cab driver who was supposed to ferry her to the office. Five years after the incident, the fast-track court awarded lifetime imprisonment to the convict.
