Hyderabad: Subjecting students to mental pressure is not proper, observed the Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday as it directed the principal of Hyderabad Public School to consider the request of K. Advetya, a student, for demotion from Class 2.

The counsel appearing for the school submitted that the management had given admission to the child in Class 2 after concluding that she had the ability to cope with the Class 2 work.

The bench said that if the management could produce a record of how it had gauged the genius of the child, then it would look into those records.

Making it clear that it will not allow a student who had not completed class 1 to join Class 2, the bench directed the principal to give admission to the child in Class 1.
