Hyderabad: Over 1 lakh duplicate voters found

Official data states 1,07,343 new voters have been registered from September 11 to 24.

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has identified as many as 1,01,470 duplicate voters and registered 1,07,343 new enrolments in 15 Assembly constituencies in Hyderabad district. A statement from the civic body showed demographically similar entries in the electoral list. 

As per records, there are 7746 similar entries or duplicate voters in Malakpet constituency, 4,609 in Charminar, 10,822 in Chandrayangutta, 11,322 in Yakutpura, 10,957 in Bahadurpura, 4,587 in Khairatabad, 8,693 in Jubilee Hills, 8,363 in Nampally, 10,127 in Karwan, 3,822 in Goshamahal, 4,568 Musheerabad, 3,882 in Amberpet, 3,370 in Sanathnagar, 4,325 in Secunderabad and 4,277 in Secunderabad Cantonment Area. 

Out of  the total 1,01,470 duplicate entries, as many as 72,707 photos have been matched and 72,358 entries assigned to field verification for attaining 100 per cent accuracy in the voter list, said a senior GHMC official. 

The official said 6,624 voters have already been verified at the field level and the corporation would serve notices to voters prior to deletion of their names. 

On the other hand, 1,07,343 new voters have been registered from September 11 to September 24. There are 5,599 new enrolments in the Musheerabad constituency, 10,892 in Malakpet, 6,341 in Amberpet, 8,401 in Khairatabad, 10,975 in Jubilee Hills, 6,913 in Sanathnagar, 8,063 in Nampally, 9,365 in Karwan, 3,994 in Goshamahal, 2,111 in Charminar, 8,724 in Chandrayangutta, 6,261 in Yakutpura, 4,272 in Bahadurpura, 8,697 in Secunderabad and 6,735 in Secunderabad Cantonment Area. 

An election wing official said about 10,000 voters were expected to register their names till Tuesday and the list would be updated late on Tuesday night.
