Patna: While chief minister Nitish Kumar wants silt management policy and removal of Farakka Barrage from Ganga as a permanent solution to the flood problem, RJD Chief Lalu Yadav on Thursday blamed Jharkhand government for releasing excessive water which caused devastating flood in Bihar.

While talking about the ongoing relief and rescue operation in flood affected areas Mr. Yadav said that, “BJP ruled Jharkhand without informing released excessive water which caused flood in Bihar”.

Criticising Lalu Yadav for his statement, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said that the statement made by Lalu Yadav was an attempt to defend his earlier controversial remark in which he had asked flood victims to consider themselves, “fortunate as holy water from Ganga has reached their door steps”. He said, “such statement only shows the seriousness of this government”. So far according to disaster management department reports around 34 persons have lost their lives mostly due to drowning since Tuesday.
