KOCHI: The High Court on Thursday asked authorities concerned to inform the court whether the DySP in Munnar who had investigated that the alleged land grab case against former MP Joyce George belongs to Idukki. The court made the remark while considering a petition seeking a CBI probe into the case.

The court has asked the authorities whether the DySP had any prior familiarity with the accused persons in the case or not. The Munnar DySP had submitted a report in Thodupuzha Sessions Court absolving Joyce George in the case. The court has rejected the report and directed for a reinvestigation and submit a fresh report.

The Munnar DySP, in his report, stated that there was no adequate record to investigate and father of Joyce George bought the land after making the necessary payment at Kottakambur. The report was submitted a year ago.

In the affidavit before the returning officer Joyce George had stated that he and family have land at Kottakmbur in Vattavada panchayat, Idukki. The complaint against the former MP is that he had acquired the land with fake documents. Thadiyampad Paliyath George, father of the ex-MP, had allegedly registered the land in the name of his wife and children after obtaining the power of attorney from six Tamil persons having the possession of the land.
