Hyderabad: Congress senior MLA Komatireddy Venkata Reddy on Tuesday asked the state government why it was not taking ‘Goldstone’ Prasad, the main accused in the Miyapur land scam into custody as he was roaming in the city freely for the last five days.

Mr Venkata Reddy met home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy on Tuesday afternoon and submitted a representation seeking immediate action against the kingpin in the Miyapur land scam.

He also staged an impromptu sit-in at Minister’s Quarters, Banjara Hills, for some time.

Speaking to newsmen, Mr Venkata Reddy said that the land scam was the biggest land scam in the country involving over 10,000 acres of land valued at Rs 50,000 crore.

“Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, by declaring that there was no scam and no loss of revenue, has actually helped the accused in the case, who is the brother of Goldstone Prasad come obtain bail,” he said.

“According to my information, Goldstone Prasad is freely roaming in Hyderabad for the last five days, but police did not dare to take him into custody. At least now, the government should move and bring the real culprits to book,” Mr Venkata Reddy demanded.
