Bengaluru: Hight Court denies bail to TDR scam prime accused

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has rejected the petition filed by Krishna Lal, the prime accused in Transferable Development Rights (TDR) scam, who had sought anticipatory bail.

It is alleged that scam is said to have occurred when he was an assistant engineer in TDR section, Mahadevapura division of the BBMP. He is currently working as BDA assistant executive engineer.

The Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) named him as the prime accused in the case and raided his residence. He had sought for anticipatory bail before Lokayukta court.

The lower court rejected it after the investigating bureau argued that Krishna Lal was not cooperating with the investigation and had failed to appear before the officials probing the scam. Later, he had approached High Court, seeking anticipatory bail.

Private TV channels
The High Court has sought for an affidavit from the state government on whether monitoring committees for private television channels has been constituted. The court was hearing a petition seeking directions to constitute proper Monitoring Committees both at State and District Levels as per the order of the Central government.

According to the petitioner, of late the TV News and other channels are not presenting information in a balanced or impartial manner. On the contrary they are airing information which is edited to suit their selfish motives, and as a consequence it is inciting disharmony and violence in society.
