Fake camphor is on sale in Hyderabad

According to Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) officials, which released the final list of 2,160 successful candidates on January 2, 40 candidates were removed after it was found that they had submitted fake documents.

Hyderabad: Following the shortage of camphor, a few gangs in the city are selling adulterated camphor by adding hazardous chemicals like hexamethylenetetramine.

Medical experts say that the smoke from hexamethylenetetramine can cause nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal disturbances and even kidney damage in the long run.

While the price of pure camphor for puja has touched Rs 1,000 per kg, the adulterated camphor wis available at Rs 30 to Rs 60 per kg.

A source said that illegal units were manufacturing adulterated camphor in Chintal, Champapet, Vanastalipuram, LB Nagar, Katedan and Nacharam, Saidabad, Asifnagar and Mallepally.
