Fire at cracker shop in Kancheepuram

The fire had started in one of the two cracker godowns at Panaikara street in Periya Kanchi.

Chennai: Seven two-wheelers, a car and crackers worth Rs 3 lakh were charred in Kancheepuram on Wednesday evening. The fire had started in one of the two cracker godowns belonging to P.N. Boopathi at Panaikara street in Periya Kancheepuram.

“The fire spread to nearby godown and Boopathi’s retail cracker shop behind the godowns,” the police said. Two fire engines from Kancheepuram fire station and Kancheepuram district fire station rushed to the spot and doused the fire after nearly one and a half hours. The fire also damaged 7 two-wheelers and a car that were parked near the retail shop.
