CM Pinarayi Vijayan condemns attack on Priyanandanan

The incident was suspected to be in retaliation to his objectionable Facebook post on the Sabarimala issue.

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinaryai Vijayan condemned the attack on national award winning director Priyanandanan in Thrissur.

In a statement here the chief minister said Sangh Parivar organisation had issued threats to the director in the name of a Facebook post recently. He was also abused on the social media.

The chief minister said the assaulat on Priyanandann was an attack on the freedom of speech. Such acts will not be tolerated at any cost, he said.

The director was attacked and cowdung water was poured on him allegeldy by BJP RSS workers. The incident was suspected to be in retaliation to his objectionable Facebook post on the Sabarimala issue.

Though he had withdrawn the Facebook post following protests from a setion of people, the threats from Sangh Parivar activists continued.
