Chennai: Police release pic to identify woman

The city police personnel had begun their hunt on Tuesday to unravel the mystery behind the missing torso of a woman.

The police found a right hand severed from the shoulder and two legs from under the knees were recovered from there.

Chennai: The Chennai city police on Friday released circulars along with the images of the woman’s severed limbs which was found in Pallikaranai dump yard on January 21. 

The circular from the Pallikaranai station read anyone who identifies the parts should contact the city police control room at’100’ or the inspector of S-10, Pallikarani station - 9498100162 

Earlier on Thursday, the limbs were sent to Rajiv Gandhi government hospital for a medical examination and a team of three doctors conducted post mortem.

Primary reports said the parts of the body was sliced off after the woman was murdered and a sharp machete has been used by the murderer to cut off the hands and legs.

The matter came to light when the city trash collectors were levelling the garbage in the Pallikaranai dump yard and found human body parts in a blue gunny bag.  They immediately alerted the Pallikaranai police who rushed to the spot. 

The police found a right hand severed from the shoulder and two legs from under the knees were recovered from there. Police concluded that they were the limbs of a woman since the severed hand had a bangle. A dragon and Siva Parvathi image were tattooed on the hand.    

On Friday after the medical examinations. the police have circulated a notice with the photocopies of tattooed hand and two legs to find out the woman’s identity. Police personnel have circulated the pamphlets to other police stations and pasted them near the bus terminus and railway stations and other crowded places in the city.
