Hyderabad: 11-day bus yatra on joblessness concludes

 Hyderabad: The 11-day bus yatra, organised by unemployed youth to raise awareness about the significance of voting for a government that addresses their aspirations, concluded at the Telangana Martyrs Memorial at Gun Park on Saturday.

At street corner meetings during the yatra, the organisers said, the unemployed youths sang songs and shared short stories, highlighting the challenges they face due to a lack of jobs. The response from people, particularly in villages, was overwhelming, the organisers said.

Yatra coordinator Indra Prasad Naik explained, "We used to stop for over half an hour in every village to educate the people on the problems faced by  unemployed youth. We also highlighted the failure of the BRS government to provide jobs during its 10-year rule from 2014."

Naik credited the success of the yatra to meticulous planning, prior information shared with the youth through WhatsApp groups and the Telegram app. More than two lakh youth joined these groups, contributing to the yatra's success.

Highlighting the apathetic attitude of the BRS towards youth employment, Naik emphasised the need to teach the State government a lesson for its failure to conduct recruitment exams through the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC).

Addressing the youth at Gun Park after the yatra ended, human rights activist Prof. G. Haragopal commended their efforts in sensitising people about the challenges faced by unemployed youth. He urged the political party that would form the government to prioritise employment in government departments, considering the difficulties faced by the youth.

The yatra, which commenced from Gun Park on November 15, covered 1,500 km across all districts.
