Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday said that standing during national anthem cannot be a test of someone’s patriotism.

“Why should we show patriotism in cinema halls? What Supreme Court has said is absolutely right and the observation of Justice  Chandrachud is correct. Standing during national anthem cannot be a test of someone’s patriotism,” Mr Asaduddin Owaisi said.

His remarks came after after the Supreme Court on Monday refused to modify its earlier order in connection with standing up during national anthem played before the beginning of a movie at cinema halls.
